Individual counselling can be sought for many reasons and at any stage in life. People who have always managed and felt confident in life can feel lost when their normal coping strategies are not enough and they are left feeling weighed down, anxious, perhaps despairing and depressed. Often people will deny or be unaware of their own needs or difficulties until overwhelmed by them and feel in crisis and alone, even if surrounded by people who care about them.
The triggers to seek help can be many. The ending or struggle within a relationship or the frustration to sustain or find a meaningful one. People can experience a loss of confidence, a sense of emptiness or lack of purpose in home or in professional life, bereavement or anxiety. Perhaps you are constantly angry and stressed or feel unable to manage transitions in your life, such as becoming a parent or getting older.
However difficult these life stages may seem they can also be opportunistic giving people a chance to re-evaluate their lives and grow. Therapy is about a private, safe, collaborative working relationship to facilitate that growth and a better life.
