How long are the appointments and do I need to come weekly?
Appointments last between 50/60 minutes. Initially weekly is best to establish stability and a working relationship but fortnightly can be arranged where possible.
What happens at the initial session?
It is a session to meet with me as a potential therapist, to help me understand what has made you seek help and for you to explore whether it is the right place for you (both). You are free to consider coming back and there is no pressure to make a further appointment. I will answer any questions that will help you make that decision. If I feel this is not the right place for you I will advise you why and what might be a better resource.
How do I pay for the sessions?
Payment is by cheque, cash, or Bank Transfer. If you have a health care provider you will need an Authorisation number but they do not usually cover Couple or Psychosexual Therapy.
Do you have disabled access?
Sadly not but there is easy access and my office is on the ground floor.
If I end my therapy but then decide I need to come back, can I?
There is always the possibility to return but the familiar time and date may not be available.
What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?
Life can be difficult and challenging, attendance can be disrupted for many valid reasons. However we do require a minimum of 48hours notice (or by 5pm on Friday’s for Monday appointments) or payment in full is required. This is standard practice. That notice can be given by email, voice mail or by text. If given sufficient time we may be able to reschedule the appointment to assist your ability to attend. Commitment is an important part of successful work.
Is our work confidential?
I am bound by the Codes of Ethics of both the BACP and COSRT. I will happily discuss the ethical framework at our initial consultation and give you further information to help you understand and feel secure.
